Ridge, I hunted the strawberry area on the muzzy hunt last year and we found plenty of good bulls and little to no people where we were. We mainly hunted down in the canyon to the east of poison ridge. We were driving down a small road that goes down the ridge straight east of poison ridge. About 1/4 down, then walking down in. There were good bulls from there all the way down to the lake almost every day.
Also, the guy camped next to us had packed down into French Hollow for a few days and took a 330 bull.
Also, a buddy of mine who is a guide. They killed 2 good bulls up diamond fk up the right fork and 3/4 of the way up to the top.
    Hope that helps.

Hello, my name is Devin. My wife Lacey drew Stansbury sheep this year. I know you have a vast knowledge of this unit and I was wondering if you would be willing to give me a couple of starting points to find sheep. I would like to take my wife and kids out there over the long weekend. My children are small, newborn to 7 years. Is there any places that I can take a truck and have a chance finding sheep from the road? I know north end. Do they tend to stay on the east or the west? I understand with the die off they may be more difficult to locate. That is ok. I plan on scouting a lot. I have no problem burning boot leather. I just want the kids to be involved to. Those mountian may not be too friendly to the little ones. Even now I am going to try and get out at least twice a week. If you are ok with giving me a couple of places to start it would be greatly appreciated! Thanks Devin

Although I have hunted the Oquirrh/Stansburys on and off my whole life. I did stop hunting the unit and I'm not planning on hunting the unit in the future. I'm not sure how you "know" I hunt around the peak.
There are very, very few elk on the Stansbury range and I haven't heard of any around Deseret Peak. I am going up the with the scouts in two week. I'll let you know if I see any.

I know you hunt around deseret peak. I was up there this weekend looking around, I'm curious how strong the elk herds are near the peak after all that good cover was burned up. It looks like some good elk country but it also seems like the fire burned a good chunk of it and the summit trail brings a lot of people straight through the cover that didn't get burned.

Redman, I sometimes stay over night on the mountain.
Sometimes I sleep on a cot right at the trailhead, then head up a few hours before light and sometimes it's leaving the house at 3:00am.

I was wondering if you would be willing to me out on the Vernon archery deer hunt. I finally drew out and it looks like you have hunted the area.

    Thanks in advance. Matt 1-307-421-3901
