Default Colorado Bear

I'm thinking, more like dreaming, about what I'm going to do this fall and I've come across a cheap option that looks fun. Colorado has OTC bear tags, season runs all of September basically. I've never hunted bears or Colorado but feel like this could be a really fun fall trip once Utah archery elk is over.
I was curious if anyone has ever hunted one of these tags? From what I've read it seems like there's a large bear population in Colorado, especially up in the high country and wilderness areas. Anyways, I'm just looking into this, don't have any sure plans, areas or dates but if someone with more experience wants to talk me into it or out of it I'll listen.

Just remember that all Colorado bear hunting is spot and stalk. No dogs and no baiting.

A lot of the high country is draw only so you need to pay attention to what units are open to OTC and what ones are not.

While there are a lot of bears hunting them on a whim can be quite difficult.

I haven’t hunted bear, but i did hunt otc elk in unit 521 last year. It is chalk full of bears. talked to 2 different sheep ranchers out there. both said their herders had shot between 80-100 bears last year. they are allowed to shoot them when the bears threaten their sheep.

Thanks for the input, I've looked a lot at 521 and a lot of the units in that area. I've also played around with the idea of 84 cause I have some friends that live near there. I think ultimately I'll end up doing something either in 521 or close by because it's so much closer drive wise. There's quite a few bears in those units from what I've heard. Most are draw but there's usually tags left over.
