I just use bullets as check weights. They are usually close enough for accuracy.

I would also trust the check weights more than a beam scale

One problem with beam scales is that just a fraction of a nats hair on the pointer can be off as much as you are saying along with the angle that you are looking at it.

Also as far a loading a case 0.1 or 0.2 tenths of a grain isn't going to hurt, that is as long as you are not at the maximum load listed and using a fast burning powder.
