Last Minute Limit

Decided late last night that I needed to duck hunt tonight due to possible conflicts over the weekend. Got out of the house way later than I wanted, and sure enough, when I got to my spot about 2pm, birds flew for another 15 minutes and then died. With the blue sky and no wind, I could feel the skunk coming on, then the pintail decided he liked the spread about 3:30 and the skunk was off! Birds still weren't flying though, and I considered picking up early for the long trip back to the truck. Glad I stayed!! The teal began flying about 4:15 and it was a fast and furious 30 minutes with a bonus greenhead thrown in. Look at the head on this dude. He has shoulders too!

Loving the late season, and sad to see the season winding down. I'm considering a trip down to Bicknell around the end of January to extend the season a little longer. Maybe hit Fish Lake and make it a combo trip.

It was somewhat frustrating as a 2nd shotgun (Browning BPS) was acting up on me now too. Really messed up a few flocks of teal when it wouldn't eject after the first shot. Had to get creative and a little forceful to clear things out). Guess it's time for deep cleans on my guns.

I was really thinking the day was going to be a bust. 4:15 to 4:45 saved my a$$!

No, they are actually metal silhouettes I got from a guy early last summer. They came with some floaters I bought, but honestly, I have like them way better. Can carry more, and results are as good as any regular dekes i’ve had. I try and mix some regular decoys in for color but can haul 4 times as many silhouettes.
