So I went into it this mornings solo outing with a casual “it flies it dies” kinda trip. First two birds of the morning were gads so I figured what the heck, let’s make this a Gaddy Gauntlet?? I just love the way gads will work the blocks when nothing else seems to. The Gad has sure saved me on many a slow days in the past, so I wanted to pay the Gad a tribute. Came so close and could have done it until the stud drake wigeon came in. Have a soft spot for drake cotton tops... In the end, was a hoot of a morning passing other birds for the mighty Gaddy!! And a band to boot. Praise to the mighty Gadwall!! Haha

Thought the same haha.

Have a friend that thinks the thing must have wanted to get away from all the liberals. I’ve got my own idea that isn’t appropriate to post

Looks like a great day in the marsh, my friend! I love gaddies! Drakes are beautiful with that big, puffy head, and they do decoy well.

Nice to know widgeon exist here. I always hear them but rarely see them. I think they are the bigfoot of waterfowl here in UT!!

I agree Scott! I have to admit I am a Gaddy lover and a mature plumed drake Gad is an amazingly blandly beautiful bird!! I hope you’re seasons been going well bud, we still need to team up and pound some birds sometime this season!!

Nicely done. And congrats on the band. Very interesting to see where it came from so recently. Glad to see somebody is getting into the birds right now.

I had a rough one midweek, and decided to head to the mountains this weekend instead. I’m itching for some actual fall weather and to really get after the webbed feet again.
