Default Prairie Jokers

Anyone else out there chase utah Sharpies this year? I call them Prairie Jokers because of that evil little Joker soundng chuckle they make as they flush wild out of range and fly off to the next zip code. My wife joined me for a quick afternoon hunt for them last night. Saw about 30 birds. Harvested one, missed another that I shouldn't have. The rest were awful skiddish.

I went out on the opener. Drove 150 miles one way, hiked about 8 miles, didn't see a single bird. I did shoot my first hun, though! I also went out one day in Idaho this past week. Saw a few birds, but no shots.

I had never heard the cackle until this week. It sure is an interesting sound.

Congrats on the bird!

I shoot a few in Idaho every year. In my opinion sharptail are a trophy in Utah. Hard to even see them here with out a private land hook up.
Nice job!

Great job, your are definitely consistent on the birds. I haven't gone after sharpies since I went to south Dakota in 2017. Prior to that it was in college in 2008.
