Updated to show my completed DIY Euro mount on this bull. I'm really liking the way displaying my bull and my Muzzy Buck from a few years back turned out.
The Monkey is finally off my back. 15 years of trying with numerous close calls & seemingly endless frustration came to a glorious conclusion yesterday morning at 10:30am. I punched my General any bull tag & harvested my first Bull Elk. I've helped several friends harvest bulls but when it came to filling my tag it seemed I had a curse year after year. We put our work in to bag this little 5 point & I couldn't be more thrilled. My neighbor & I put in a little over 14 miles total on foot to locate, kill and pack out this glorious beast. He was travelling with 6 cows, 1 calf and a spike. We came upon him after deciding to follow a set of fairly fresh bull tracks we'd located in the snow. He offered me about a 125yd shot. Put my 175 grain 7mm right into his right lung. No exit wound. He went 35 yds, jumped a high dead fall log going another 5 yds into a dead face plant. Time to start boiling.
