Default Trail Cams

I am planning on putting a few trail cams up for my LE deer hunt this fall. What are you guys using for attractant? Any tips or tricks?

Yea, it is sad and I believe that in the next couple of years it will be outlawed but until then you can use whatever you want.

However mule deer are not like whitetails. It is hard to pattern them and to get them to come into one general location.

Pretty sure they are already discussing it based on an article I read last fall about people baiting with apples. I would agree with a bait ban

Always has been legal for big game.

Salt works as good as anything “special” on the market currently, for muledeer...

Elk on the other hand, enjoy all kinds of different stuff. But again, Salt is pretty **** effective on them too

At the risk of being roasted by other opinions....
The trophy rocks work very well. I have pics of cows and bulls laying down and licking them for hours at a time.
The deer will hit them for sure. But, not lay down and spend the time the elk will.

mineral salts rubbed into earth before a good rain. the down side is that it also attracts other hunters to your cams, so place them away from main trails...unless you didn't want to keep that cam anyway.

Back in the 80's I'd load a Mule with 100# of Redmond Salt and place it in locations for the cattle we'd run on the mountain. The Deer and Elk were all over it! I watched a group of Elk kick a rock around as if they were playing soccer.

"Trophy Rock" is Redmond Salt, just wrapped in plastic with a fancy label and expensive. I think we were paying $100 for 5 ton back then.
