Default ammo

I have an issue, I received a rifle (k31 Swiss) 7.5x55 and around 500 bullets that are reloads but the can there in says 7.5x57 they are just different enough that I am not sure they are for this gun the lead looks bigger and the neck is a little different. what should I do?

I never trust other peoples reloads.

But... could they be 7.5x57's resized to 7.5x55? Got a micrometer?

Where did you get the gun? Can the previous owner explain the ammo?

I would just put them on the shelf and find some other rounds to shoot in the rifle.

You may even be able to take them to a gun show and sell them for a few bucks or trade them for something else.

Is there a stamping on the barrel indicating that the rifle is a 7.5x55?
