Willard Peak Mtn Goat

I was fortunate to get the early season tag this year, any tips or advice would be appreciated. (besides getting in to shape) ha

I would drive to Mantua and go up the Willard Peak road to the top of Inspiration Peak and from there, walk the ridge across to Baldy and over to Ben Lomond Peak. There is hunting all along the way and you could run into critters anywhere along the way. You would be looking down on the rocks and bluffs and could stop anywhere along the way to do some glassing. We used to do that hike when I was a young scout about 50 years ago. Often we would run into Big Horn Sheep along the way. Good luck.

Go help participate in the goat count/survey that the Rocky Mountain Goat Alliance is doing on June 10-12. I can't think of a better way to get some scouting done.

Congrats on the tag! If you have the time, I'd recommend hunting during the week as you should have most of the mountain to yourself. Just don't be like that guy who dressed up in the mountain goat suit a few years ago!!

The hardest part of your hunt. will be trying to retrieve your goat if you choose a bad location to shoot!
