Winter Lake Powell Fishing

I would imagine quite a few folks have seen this but if not you need to watch this. I go down at least 2 times each winter to get rid of the cabin fever and I love it. The fish are harder to figure out than in warmer conditions but once you do figure them out it is a blast.

Cool video. Thanks for sharing.

I would love to make it to Lake Powell some day to cross stripers off my list. They look like a ton of fun.

Thanks for the link.

My best trip, of many, to Powell was the last of March, first of April. It even snowed one day that week! Crappies and largemouth were just great. One drawback was we had a little boat trouble back in the San Juan arm and there was no one around to help out.
So I'm in my late 50s. Life's not the party I hoped for...but hell, while I'm here I might as well dance.

I said this morning to Sawsman that I wisht I was on powell today. my friend tied me up a couple dozen deer hair bugs and another bag full of giant streamers he uses on pike but they work on stripers and bass on powell great. I wish I was there catching smallies on the bugs right now.
we run a small rowboat that can be cartopped and we take turns sculling, three fish and we switch or one striper. the best fun is had when you land 2 then the third is a striper, dollar for the first fish dollar for the largest and boy do we have a great time.

I wish I was on Powell today also. Or any "warmer water" spot for that matter!

I agree! Did you see those photos of Jim's? he is in shorts and tee shirts catching tarpon and others. I would love to be in that weather right now.
