Here's a photo of my friend Wil with the perch and one brown he took home today.

Here's a close-up of the fish.

Mill Meadow Monday, Feb. 1Three of us hit Mill Meadow again today. It was 3 degrees when we arrived, but clear. It did warm up nicely during the day. Perch fishing continues to be very good. We fished our normal area straight off the boat ramp and did well. I saw another pair of anglers east of us about 100 yards that seemed to have even faster action than we did. When those two gentlemen left, we moved over and tried that area. It was a little deeper (22 feet) and the action was non-stop until we quit at 3:30 p.m.. The three of us caught about 250 perch and three browns. We probably kept about 50 perch total betwee our trio and we had a friend that wanted some trout. Even with the recent increase in fishing pressure there is no apparent let-off in the perch bite. Ice conditions are very good. There is about 16 inches of ice with about 10 inches of snow cover. There was some slush in the bay toward UM Creek. Edges are good. It did appear that a 4 wheeler on the ice over the weekend may have had some trouble with the slush monster near where we fished.

It was very good and just the ticket for a warm-up while catching the next supply of the chowder's main ingrediant.
