"The solution to any problem — work, love, money, whatever — is to go fishing, and the worse the problem, the longer the trip should be." — John Gierach Strawberry 8/30/09

Strawberry 8/30/09So my buddy bought a new 14 aluminum this weekend and after sleeping in this morning he called around 10 and wanted to more or less take it out and see how it did. Fished for a few on the Renegade side. Started out somewhat calm and then got really windy and eventually pushed us off the water. However for the first 30 minutes or so when the weather was calm I landed 2 fish and had lots of other bites on tubes tipped with night crawler. Most fish were on the surface or subsurfacing it. Casting out and swimming the jig back in a fast motion seemed to get a bite at least every 4 or 5 casts. Pretty entertaining. Best days I've ever had on Strawberry have been on days like today when the fish are on top. But that stupid wind had to start and finally did us in.
