Green, Brown and the rest of the SpectrumA day or two ago, my brother-in-law and I hit the road early in the morning to spend the day at gorgeous Green River. We had an excellent day. The sky was clear and there was little wind. We had heard that the river would be running high, but the local fly shops said it was still fishing good. Actually the high water is nice for bank fisherman because it pushes the fish toward them. Needless to say we had them dialed in on san juan worms and black and orange zebra midges. We caught both Browns and Rainbows from little hole to the dam. I'd say the biggest of both species was about 20 inches, no real hogs this time. It was a marvelous day, the only downer was the heat. With walking as far as we did, the waders were cooking us alive and the only other options were to stay out of the water and miss out on some good holes, or freeze our feet off. As you can imagine we didn't last long on the banks. We ended the day with some wet socks and some cold feet. The Green is an amazing place and I hope everyone continues to treat it with the respect that it deserves.

I like this fishes genes, it ran me down stream and tried to break me off in the submerged rocks. One of the prettiest fish I have ever caught. Nice post dartangion!

Re: Green, Brown and the rest of the SpectrumThe rainbows I've caught in the green look like that one. I wonder if they come from the jones hole creek hatchery? Maybe they use a different strain than the DWR? They sure are pretty, but most river fish are compared to lake fish.

Re: Green, Brown and the rest of the SpectrumNice lineup of pretty fish. Good job.
That place seems to hold a sacred part of a fisherman's heart, once they've visited. One day, I suppose.
Re: Green, Brown and the rest of the SpectrumExcellent post and photos. Thanks for sharing. I went up there about a month ago with some scouts and hiked from the damn to Little Hole. We did pretty well with tube jigs. I didn't bring the fly rod on account of helping the scouts.
