while considering what hunt i would like to plan a couple years out (or maybe sooner?) i have arrived at the conclusion that i would like to do a stag hunt. My first thought was a stag/dove combo in argentina, but obviously new zealand becomes an option too. This is something that I would love to do with my dad as a once in a lifetime kind of thing, but that doesnt mean i want to blow money either (as i hope to pay for it for him as a once in a lifetime gift as well). has anyone ever done either of these trips that could provide any advice such as which country, outfitters to use, what kind of prices to expect, etc.? im still in the early stages of research and google seems to be just the the guys that pay to be first in the search results. thanks!
One thing to keep in mind with Argentina, stag hunts have dropped in price considerably--but that is because in part Americans are having difficulty getting their trophies back.
There are some pretty awesome options for stag in eastern europe too, and the dollar to Euro exchange rate is very favorable.
My self, my wife, and 2 of my daughters, hunted Red Stags, Bull Tahr and Chamois on the south Island a few years back, they have different types of stags English, German, and Russian all different in the way they crown out at the top , you really must consider hunting Bull Tahr, and Chamois while you are there, you can also hunt BIG Whitetail and North american elk, Turkeys are a FUN must (NO LIMIT), along with Paradise ducks if you are there when they are in season (only place in the world) The Roar is in the spring,
