I know it still early to find out what unite you drawn for.But I was wondering if any one else put in for these unites and if so.What weapon did you draw and how many points.
I drew my riverbed tag last year (rifle) with 9 points....I too thought it was a sure thing with 7 or 8.....but as stated, the reduced number of permits throws ya in to a whole different ball game.
It's an easy unit to "hunt"....if you want to call it that. It was more like goin' out to your garden and pickin' a zucchini. The **** things were all over the areas where I was....and I just road hunted. I did have to put a stalk on the one I ended up taking, so that made it more enjoyable. Not a ton of big bucks though. The prettiest buck I saw was only about 12", but had the best set of horns I saw. The one I took just barely cleared the 14" mark, but VERY symmetrical. Did see a few in the 15 - 16 inch range, but NO symmetry whatsoever. One side would have good hooks, the other had nothing. Also, the diggers/prongs we lacking on almost everything we saw.
I "hunted" two areas, seeing a total of over 50 bucks.....so if anyone draws and needs any info, I'll hook ya up. It'll be probably 13 years or so til I have a legit chance to draw the unit....that is if they are able to keep the permit numbers stable.
we are not looking for any monster that for sure. I got three people in my group that going to be there first time hunting them. Two of us are going try to get them with are bows and the other one is going try to get it with a pistol and then my wife is shooting her's with a rifle. Im after a 15+ inch to be mine that I have gotten already. but im not going to be picky with my bow in hand.
